Are you aware that Marquette County has a County Veterans’ Service Office to serve the needs of military veterans living within the county?

 

The duty of the Veterans’ Service Officer is outlined in Wisconsin State Statute 45.43 (5)(a) as follows:

 

        “The County Veterans’ Service Officer shall:  Advise

        persons living in the service officer’s county who served

        in the U.S. armed forces regarding any benefits to which

        they may be entitled or any complaint or problem arising

        out of such service and render to them and their

        dependents all possible assistance.”

 

The Marquette County Veterans’ Service Office can assist you in applying for the following State and Federal VA benefits:

 

State of Wisconsin VA Benefits:

a)    Primary Mortgage Loans

b)    Home Improvement Loans

c)    Personal Loan Program Loans

d)    Educational grants

1)        Tuition and Fee Reimbursement grant

2)        Part Time Study grant

3)        Retraining grant

4)        Subsistence Aid grants

e)    Health Care Aid grants

f)     Veterans’ Assistance Program (homeless or at risk of being homeless)

g)    Wisconsin Veterans’ Home at King, WI

h)    State Veterans’ Cemeteries

        

Federal VA Benefits:

a)    Non-Service connected disability (pension)

b)    Service connected disability (compensation)

c)    Widows pension (widows/children)

d)    Dependency & Indemnity Compensation (DIC) – (compensation for widows/children and parents when veterans death is due to a service connected disability)

e)    Burial allowance and Headstones

f)    GI Bill Educational benefits

g)    Education assistance for children/wives & widows

h)    VA Health Care benefits

i)     Federal VA Home Loans

j)     Replacement/correction of discharges

k)    U.S. Government Insurance

l)     Federal Government Life Insurance claims

m)   Assist veterans and dependents in filing annual income verification reports pertaining to non-service connected pension benefits

n)    Request from and send to other counties copies of discharges, marriage, death and birth records

o)    Any other assistance that may be required by the veteran or his or her dependents.
