Part Time Community Outreach Member

For the Marquette County Area School Districts

   

Compensation:  

AmeriCorps members will receive a modest living allowance, student loan deferment while serving, and an education award at the successful completion of service.  Limited reimbursement will be provided for travel to participating communities and training. 

 Scope:

This Farm-to-School program is part of a 3 county collaboration between Adams, Juneau and Marquette Counties.  This Community Outreach AmeriCorps member position will be stationed primarily in Marquette County, with limited responsibilities in Adams County. The position requires a minimum 300 hour commitment prior to August 14, 2017, or approximately 15-20 hours per week. Successful members may have the opportunity to renew for another year of service.   

The Community Outreach member will be responsible for connecting farmers with schools, working with school gardens, connecting with community members, and managing and recruiting volunteers.  Qualified candidates will have a passion for farm to school, enjoy connecting with community members, have good communication skills, and be able to work independently as well as in a team.

Marquette County is seeking a dedicated individual to fill a Summer Maintenance/Landscaping Laborer LTE position.

Starting pay between $10.00-$11.00 per hour

This position is a summer position from mid-May through August. Start and end dates are negotiable. This position works under the direction of the Marquette County Buildings and Grounds Department. This position will assist in the care and maintenance of all parks and facilities under the care of the Marquette Counties Buildings and Grounds Department

SUMMARY:  This position is a summer position from Mid-May through August. Start and end dates are negotiable. QUALIFICATIONS  

EDUCATION: High School Diploma/ or a letter of recommendation from a teacher if you are still in high school. 

EXPERIENCE / JOB KNOWLEDGE: Knowledge of light building maintenance and lawn maintenance required. Educational background in landscaping, lawn maintenance or other applicable areas of lawn/horticulture care preferred. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES encompasses all aspects of buildings, ground and landscape maintenance including: push mowing, string trimming, edging, power blowing debris, planting, weeding, painting, light construction. Other duties as assigned.

  • Ability to read, write and follow oral instruction.

  • Must be able to work cooperatively on a team.

  • Must be able to occasionally move about or remain in a stationary position 50% of the time. Constantly positions self to fulfil the duties of the position assisting in work in small mechanical rooms and other maintenance activities for facilities. Occasionally ascends/descends heights to accomplish work.

  • This position is heavy in manual labor and requires the physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs. occasionally.

  • Must provide and wear appropriate shoes and clothes for work-open toed shoes are not allowed. Other safety equipment is provided.

  • The person in this position may communicate with customers who have inquiries on work and must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.

  • MUST HAVE VALID DRIVERS LISCENSE
