Highway Department Mechanic

Marquette County is seeking applicants for a full-time Mechanic position within the Highway Department.  The mechanic position is responsible for the all-around work, repair and overhaul of gasoline and diesel engines on all trucks, loaders, tractors, graders or any other county highway department equipment.  Must perform preventative maintenance programs on all highway equipment.  Other required skills include welding, torch work, knowledge of hydraulics, electrical and electronics.  Individuals shall supply own tools and toolboxes to perform all work involved with the highway department.  A complete job description is available on the Marquette County website.

A valid Class A un-restricted CDL and high school diploma or equivalent is required.  Additional certificate for mechanic training from college or technical school is preferred.  A minimum one year of mechanical experience.  Continued training will be required for repair of emission systems, tires, air conditioning recharging, and other job related duties.  Wage for this position depending on education and experience for the year 2018 is within the $20.77 to $25.97 range.

EMT- Intermediate or Paramedic

Marquette County EMS is looking for professional and self-motivated EMT- Intermediate or Paramedic for full-time employment. Marquette County EMS is continuing the process of transitioning from volunteer to a full-time service. Marquette County EMS responds to over 1600 emergency calls a year out of three stations providing ALS service to the county and two townships in Adams County. The new position will be working two 24 hour shifts a week. Successful applicants will undergo an interview process.

Qualifications: Current AHA ACLS, CPR and valid WI driver’s license. Current State of WI EMT-Intermediate or Paramedic license with minimum of two years’ experience.

Starting pay is $13.32 per union contract with full benefits package working a 48hr work week.

Summer LTE Laborer

Marquette County has up to 4 vacancies for a Highway General Laborer (Summer-LTE) with the Marquette County Highway Department. Under the general direction of the Highway Commissioner and/or Patrol Superintendents, it is the responsibility of the Highway General Laborer (Summer-LTE) to aid in the maintenance of State and County Trunk Highways, ditches, and right-of-way, so as to aid in the safe flow of traffic throughout Marquette County. Applicants start at a minimum pay rate of $10.00/hour negotiable dependent on qualifications, possession of a valid CDL qualifies applicant for additional pay.

A valid WI driver’s license and high school diploma or equivalent is required. A minimum one year of agricultural, road maintenance, or comparable experience preferred.

PUBLIC HEALTH PREPAREDNESS COORDINATOR

This part-time (30-hours per week) position within the Appleton Health Department will support regional and local efforts to assess, develop, coordinate, and implement emergency plans, systems, and activities to increase readiness to respond to bioterrorism and other public health emergencies.  A Bachelors degree in Emergency Management, Health Education, Epidemiology, Environmental Health, Nursing, or closely related field, plus 3 years work experience in public health and/or emergency planning is required.  Also, a valid driver’s license and driving record that meets standards are needed.  A Masters degree in Public Health or closely related field and prior management/supervision experience is preferred.  This is a Grant supported position.  We offer a competitive wage plus an excellent fringe benefit package.
