  General Information about Zoning

There are ten townships in Marquette County that are regulated by the Marquette County General Zoning Ordinance.  These townships include Crystal Lake, Douglas, Harris, Mecan, Montello, Moundville, Neshkoro, Newton, Packwaukee, and Westfield.  The five townships that have not adopted the Marquette County General Zoning are Buffalo, Oxford, Shields, and Springfield.  You will need to get permits through the County Zoning office for all townships in Marquette County except the areas more than 300' from a river stream or creek and 1000' from a pond or lake in the township of Springfield.

While not all townships have adopted the Marquette County General Zoning Ordinance, the Marquette County Shoreland Zoning Ordinance is in effect in ALL townships within 1000' of the ordinary high water mark of a lake or pond and 300' to a navigable stream.

This website is designed to give contractors, builders, the public, and anyone else interested in property or construction in Marquette County information on various topics.
